Principal’s Message

Dear Students, Parents/Guardians and Friends,

Welcome back to another school year; 2021 at Sirius College, Ibrahim Dellal Campus. To our new families, we welcome you and we hope that you and your child/children have settled well into our school.

What’s New

Staff Updates

We send a warm welcome to our new staff members:

Mrs Cennet Osmani - Community Engagement Coordinator
Mrs Masooma Rustam - Science and Mathematics Teacher
Mr Omer Yucel - School Counsellor
Ms Ceyda Resuloglu - Food Technology Technician

Primary School Management

There have been some changes in our primary school management team as follows:

Ms Mirela Hot - Primary Coordinator
Ms Nilsen Tran - Upper Primary Coordinator

Congratulations to both teachers and we wish them all the best in their new roles.

Ms Mirela and Ms Nilsen have replaced Ms Ozlem Coskun and Ms Esra Yildirim respectively who decided to step away from the roles after many years. We thank them both for their dedicated service over the years.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Our school is closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation and will continue to follow the guidance and instruction of various Australian Government agencies, such as the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education and Training. Thankfully, we do not have any concerns among our school community.

The snap 5-day lockdown in February demonstrated that we are well-prepared in transitioning from onsite teaching to remote learning and vice versa. While we hope that such incidences do not recur, we should continue to be prepared. It is therefore equally important that families are prepared and fully equipped to handle remote learning as well.

We will continue to maintain and encourage good hygiene habits on a daily basis and educate our students about appropriate strategies for hygiene and safety (i.e., covering mouths when coughing or sneezing, washing hands thoroughly and frequent use of hand sanitiser). Parents please be mindful that if your child/children are unwell, they should be kept at home and not return to school until they have fully recovered.

School Drop-off/Pick-up and Traffic

Once again, a reminder for all. While we try our best to minimise the traffic problems in our school car park before and after school, it is impossible to achieve this without your cooperation.

For the sake of harmony within the school community, I would like to appeal to all parents/guardians to please observe the car park etiquette and be respectful of the school rules when dropping off/picking up your children.

Firstly, drop-off/pick-up bays are strictly for that purpose.

Secondly, please do not park or queue in front of the school gate. If you continue to park or queue at the gate, you are putting yourself at risk as well as creating a hazard to other road users. The school car park gates open from 8.20am every morning and 3.20pm every afternoon. In the mornings, we strongly advise that students be dropped off after 8.30am when supervision will be available.

Thirdly, the speed limit within the school car park is 10km/h. We expect this speed limit to be adhered to, and in addition to this, it is expected that all drivers follow instructions given by staff on duty.

Please bear in mind that students’ safety is most important. We truly seek your understanding and patience to ensure that the school car park remains a safe and pleasant environment that functions smoothly and effectively.

I wish all of our students, families and staff a very successful 2021.

Warm Regards,

Halil Ibrahim
Campus Principal
